Song of the Day: Phoenix -1901

Seattle was abuzz Saturday when Phoenix graced our fair city at the Showbox SoDo. A friend of mine had a spare ticket and I should have gone along, but alas I did not. I didn't think much of it until I heard Phoenix on the radio, heard from a random person what a great show it was, and saw a blog entry from the Seattle Stranger in my reader... I should have went.

Especially seeing this bit from Line-Out:
Still, the excitement and energy in the crowd was immense, with most people dancing and screaming along the lyrics to almost every song.Though the floor was definitely packed tight, it seemed that at least ¾ of the people around me were trying to dance and move around, however limited in space they were.

I really need to go to concerts again.

I've already posted this but to commemorate their time here:

Song of the Day ('00 Edition) System of a Down: Chop Suey!

Ah, SOAD. What can I say, when I want to get pumped up I got this song in my library. Video is nice too with its shirtless band members. Yeah I'm a naughty guy.

Coachella Line-Up

Three days of damn good music!

Song of the Day (80s edition): A-ha - Take on Me.

My Ipod shuffled to this song earlier this morning. Yes, I was belting this out in my car... no, I cannot hit that high note.

Am I in the latest slasher movie?!

A dark hallway

No... this is what some of the hallways are like when the rest of corporate is off.

Wait, did you hear that?

Martin Luther King Jr. / Bayard Rustin

I just want to say, in this day of remembering a great person in the civil rights movement, that there is still a minority fighting for their equal rights; California's prop 8 trial, the recent gay marriage wins and losses, and just the total movement for equality. Let us remember the great things Martin Luther King Jr. did and learn from the civil rights movement of the '60s.

Also, remember Bayard Rustin for he helped organize many of the rallies and marches of that movement, but also later on was involved in the gay rights movement.

"Today, blacks are no longer the litmus paper or the barometer of social change. Blacks are in every segment of society and there are laws that help to protect them from racial discrimination. The new "niggers" are gays. . . . It is in this sense that gay people are the new barometer for social change. . . . The question of social change should be framed with the most vulnerable group in mind: gay people."
-Bayard Rustin
