Song of the Day (80s Edition) The Cure - Lullaby

Here I go again stretching the bounds of generations. This song was released in 1989, but of course it can be played almost a year after it's release date spilling over to 1990. Oh well.

Speaking of 1989, people born in 1989 will be 21 years old this year. I'm being slightly reflective in this post. I was born in the late 70s and am a child of the 80s, my musical influence is mainly late 80s onward. So early 80s was vague and the 70s are years that happened before me and seems like history. Now that i have reached the third decade of my life, I realize the stuff I experience is history to the ones who are in their 20s. In terms of music, Disco was before my time so I never really connected with it, except by way of how others see it, none of my own experience. New Wave for those in their early 20s will be the same way, they cannot put the music into their life, only by way of those who lived it. And as I get older more people will be unable to connect with the music I connected to because it will only be in their history. My comfort: others have experienced this small epiphany and others WILL experience this epiphany.

Band of the Day: Abba

Yes, Band of the day instead of song of the day. That's because Abba is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! They have brought infectious dance/disco music to the world and has been a tremendous influence to many bands. Their music has been used in a popular Broadway musical and several movies.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at The Waldorf-Astoria on March 15, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. EST, and will be televised live on Fuse and available on http://www.fuse.tv.

So to commemorate their induction:
