Song of the Day ('00 Edition): Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body

I can't believe this song is about 5 years old already. I can still remember trying to learn this song on my guitar. Don't ask me to play it alone; I need the song to drown out my foul-ups.

If I remember correctly, the first time I saw Death Cab was completely by accident. I went to a concert and the first act did not make it for a reason I forgot. However, Death Cab or at least Ben Gibbard showed up to be the opening act. I have to admit I wasn't all that impressed, the sound and feel was too good for me at the time (dark times.) I did acknowledge that it sounded like something I'd listen to if the mood was right. Years later, and in a much better time of my life, I heard Death Cab on the radio and loved them. Funny how stuff like that happens.

The Road to Weight Loss

Before the holiday season I participated in a fatbet with coworkers. As you can see from the graph, I did a pretty good job. I did not win the competition, but, for me , it was not winning but getting myself healthy and it really does help when associates, friends or family are participating and/or supporting.

As you can see, the holidays came and I did gain some of it back. I did not actually make a "New Years resolution" to lose weight. It was more like I decided to get myself back into a healthier lifestyle again. I started hitting the gym again, (for a while I couldn't because of an arthritis thing with my foot) slowly getting myself into it. Then, co workers started up another fatbet. yeah! I now have more support/ incentive again. Again, I don't care if I win or not, but it would be nice.

As you can see from the graph, the new fatbet which started this month shows me really on a fast track, with a bit of a bump. I don't know what is causing this and I'm expecting to plateau any moment, but I've been straddling the 230 point. I would like to finally proclaim I am under 230 but I'm gonna give it a bit.

And if anyone is keeping track, here is the latest work out pics that I have been saving on flickr. For the curious, the set is here.

Song of the Day (90s Edition) - Black Box - Everybody, Everybody

Ah, dance in the 90s. (Speaking like an old man again)Remember Club MTV, then The Grind? Yeah they were shows rather than actual videos on MTV but at least they showcased MUSIC! Of course dance took a real hit around this time with Milli Vanilli exposed for lip synching and Black Box sued by Martha Wash ("It's Raining Men") But even through that, I still like Black Box. "Everybody, Everybody" and "Strike It Up" are fondly played in my Ipod they help when I'm running... upbeat, good tempo, feel good.

Song of the Day (80s edition [barely]) - Blondie - Atomic

I love Blondie. This band is my icon for New Wave music, innovation, and frontwomen who rocks! It was Blondie who introduced rap into mainstream music with "Rapture". Debbie Harry keeps on reminding me of how awesome women can be in music. And when I think of 80s music Blondie seems to be one of those bands that just stands out.

When I watched Trainspotting, this song came up; I instantly loved it. That version of "Atomic" was sung by a different group, but while searching for who, i found that Blondie originally did it. I loved it even more. Enjoy!

Song of the Day: Phoenix - Lisztomania

It is getting increasingly harder to find music videos today... (sounding like an old man) I remember the day when MTV actually played MUSIC. I don't even think the website has that much in the way of music vids.

So I heard this on the radio and really enjoyed it, now I'm really regretting not seeing them when they were here.
