Song of the Day ('00 Edition) - The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Date With the Night

I am quickly running out of money in my Itunes account... more Itunes gift cards please!

So again my latest acquisition ties in perfectly with my latest music vid, funny how that works. I did buy the newest singles from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I didn't buy the whole album. I feel like I'm doing the band a great dis-service by doing this, but I just wanted so many songs right now rather than albums. When I finally allot some funds to Itunes purchases, I will get the whole album.

It also seems like the stars are aligned since "Where the Wild Things Are" was released on DVD. And those in the know it was Karen O who worked on the soundtrack. With so many things out there ruining all my childhood memories GI Joe, Transformers 2, various internet finds, this bit seems so endearing and promising that I'm just gonna go get it.

Song of the Day (80s edition) - Stacey Q - Two of Hearts

Okay so I was watching last week's RuPaul's Drag Race(yes I'm that gay) and when Morgan and Sonique had to "Lipsynch for your Life!" they had "Two of Hearts." So what if Sonique was doing acrobatics all over the stage, my favorite was Morgan who lip-synched amazingly and those arm movements just screamed gogo boy. Apparently Ru thought the same thing and kept Morgan. Great, two guilty pleasures just collided in a this post.

On to the song. This is also a guilty pleasure of mine. It's so pop, so manufactured, so bubble gum why don't i hate it? I think its just to cute and catchy for me to ignore, sad but true. If it's pretty enough, I'll take it. The only sad part about this song now... I can recall watching the Facts of Life episode when Stacey Q guest starred. And no it was not Nick at Nite, it was a back in the day... Harrumph!

Song of the Day - Black Eye Peas - Imma Be

Okay so when I got the CD, asides from "Boom Boom Pow," I found this song. After so many hits later, I finally get a music video and with a bonus for "Rock That Body".

Granted Black Eye Peas can be set into pop music. And if you know me, I have this polarized view of pop. I will really love it, or really hate it. I think it has to do with how manufactured it feels. Ke$ha is manufactured. Taylor Swift, manufactured. American Idol contestants, ugh! (of course, I'm beginning to gain a little respect for Kelly Clarkson.) But then there is Lady Gaga, Black Eye Peas, or Beyonce. Black Eye Peas and Beyonce have been around a bit so they can say the proof is in the longevity and performance, but then Lady Gaga just shined from the start. And if you remember, I was making fun of the Gaga for a while, only because style and persona kinda threw me off but now I'm totally in.

On a side note, I heard of the Black Eye Peas when 311 give them a nod in their song "Come Original"; that was 10 years ago. I didn't really hear anything until Elephunk came out which was 3 years after that. So here they are now with one of the biggest albums in "The E.N.D." I like it when I can track artists by way of what I heard and can come back to that down the line.
